Environmental Fee (Climate Crisis Resilience Fee)

As of January 1, 2024, all hotels in Greece are required to implement a new environmental fee defined as the Climate Crisis Resilience Fee. This fee was established under Article 30 of Law 5073/2023 and replaces the previous Accommodation Tax.

The fee is to be paid by guests staying in hotels, furnished rooms/apartments (rooms to let), and short-term rentals. Accommodations are responsible for collecting this fee from guests and remitting it directly to the tax authorities.

The Climate Crisis Resilience Fee is charged per room, per night and must be collected from the guests upon check-out. The specific amount of the fee varies based on the type of lodging and the period of stay, as detailed below:

* All hotels are required, pursuant to Law 4276/2014 and the relevant ministerial decisions issued thereafter, to be classified into specific star categories. This classification is based on certain technical and functional criteria, the fulfillment of which must be certified by Accredited Certification Bodies.

Τέλος ανθεκτικότητας στη κλιματική κρίση

Σύμφωνα με το άρθρο 30 του νόμου 5073/2023, οι διαμένοντες σε ξενοδοχεία, ενοικιαζόμενα επιπλωμένα δωμάτια – διαμερίσματα, τουριστικές επιπλωμένες επαύλεις, αλλά και σε καταλύματα βραχυχρόνιας μίσθωσης, θα πρέπει να καταβάλλουν το «Τέλος ανθεκτικότητας στη κλιματική κρίση».

Το συγκεκριμένο τέλος αντικαθιστά τον φόρο διαμονής. Επιβάλλεται ανά ημερήσια χρήση και ανά δωμάτιο και καταβάλλεται από τον πελάτη πριν την αναχώρησή του από το ξενοδοχείο, προκειμένου να αποδοθεί στο δημόσιο. Για την είσπραξη του εκδίδεται από το τουριστικό κατάλυμα το αντίστοιχο φορολογικό παραστατικό.
